"Make this last dance special, it's the last one of this millennium." Savannah sat in her chair quietly. Savannah's supposed best friend, Whitney, approached Savannah's crush and asked him to dance with her. Savannah shut her eyes tightly and wished for the night to hurry up and end. Basically everyone was on the dance floor. The song was slow and romantic. I belong out there with Kenneth. Whitney and Savannah had been best friends for quite a while. Then Whitney decided to do the most ignoble thing and go out with Kenneth. The couple had been together for two weeks now, and even though Whitney knew that Savannah liked him, she continued to tell Savannah every detail of their relationship. Savannah didn't know why she put up with it. Her stomach lurched when she saw then kiss. She stood up and left the party. The new year came in without her there. When she got back to her apartment, she booted up her computer system to see what was going on online. A tear slid down her cheek. Her roommates were out partying so she was home alone. The phone extension in her room rang. Savannah wiped her eyes and cleared her voice.

" Hello?"

" Hi Savannah!! I'm on my cellular, where are you?" Savannah's eyes clouded up when she recognized Whitney's voice.

" I'm at home. I left the party."

" Why? You could have hung out with Kenneth and I."

" No Whitney, I'm tired. Bye." Savannah clicked off the phone. She looked at her buddy list and frowned. None of her friends were online. She left her computer on and climbed into her bed and went to sleep.

A few moments later a loud chime went off in her room. Savannah woke up scared to death. When she glanced at her computer screen, she saw that someone had sent her an instant message. She put on her reading glasses and headed over to the computer. It was from KiJi24, Kenneth's screen name. She looked at her watch. She'd left the party at 12:00 midnight and now it was 3 am. She glanced at her buddy list and saw that Whitney wasn't online. So she responded to his message.

KiJi24: Hey Savannah

Saragon: Hi, what are you doing up this late?

KiJi24: Nothing. Why weren't you at the party?

Saragon: I was at the party. I left early.

KiJi24: Oh. Why did you leave early?

Saragon: Because I was

Savannah hesitated before typing the word tired. She had never told him the truth. Should she tell him now? Or was it too late?

Saragon: I left because I didn't feel like seeing you and Whitney together.

Savannah exhaled sharply. She awaited his response.

KiJi24: oh.

His short response annoyed Savannah majorly. She decided now wasn't the best time to clue Kenny in.

Saragon: Good-night

KiJi24: Where you going?

Savannah signed off not bothering to answer his question. She curled back up in her bed, crying herself to sleep.

****

Ring ring. Savannah awoke. She looked at the clock beside her bed. It was 2 in the afternoon. She reached for the cordless phone.

" Hello?"

" Hey Savannah!"

" Hi Whitney."

" Listen, I was wondering if you were mad at me." Savannah's rage boiled inside of her. She wanted to tell her off, but she was so scared of confrontations.

" I want to know why the hell you are going out with Kenneth even though you know that I love him." Savannah's mouth remained open. She could not believe she had said that.

" Well, I mean, he didn't like you so, I just thought since he liked me I would go out with him."

" Do you still think I'm your friend?"

" Forever! We aren't going to let a guy ruin our friendship are we?"

" Not a guy, but betrayal. You betrayed me! You knew how I felt and yet and still you went out with him and you make it a point to share every damn detail of everything you all do together and I'm sick of it. I don't want to talk to you, I don't want to see you, I don't even want to know you exist. Leave me the hell alone!" Savannah slammed the cordless phone down. It fell apart on impact. Savannah took a shower and changed into her black jeans and tight fitting silver shirt. She threw on her 3 inch heel boots that came all the way to her knee. She pulled her jeans down over them. After she brushed her teeth and ate a quick breakfast consisting of a bagel and orange juice she left her apartment. She unlocked the door to her Toyota Camry and revved the engine. She backed the car out of the parking space and sped off out of the parking lot. He's got to know the truth. She thought as she slammed the gear shift into second. What if Whitney is there? Savannah thought as she thrust the gear shift into third. Then I'll just have to let her hear this. She answered as she downshifted to stop at a stop sign. When she reached Kenneth's apartment, she began to get nervous. She didn't even look at herself in the mirror, she got out the car and approached the door. She got up her courage and knocked on the door.

" Hey, what's up Savannah?" Kenneth's roommate Jay asked.

" Nothing, is Kenneth here?"

" Yeah, he's in his room." Jay called to Kenneth to come in the living room and then left to his room. Savannah sat on the couch with her legs crossed and her hands in her lap. Her palms were red and hot. She was extremely nervous. Kenneth entered the room in jeans and a unbuttoned dress shirt.

" Hi Savannah." He said.

" Hi Kenneth."

" What brings you hear?"

" Sit down, I wanted to talk to you." Kenneth sat down on the couch beside Savannah. Savannah bawled up her hands into a big fist and stared Kenneth straight in his eyes.

" I love you Kenneth. I was so upset when you chose Whitney over me. She knew I liked you, and she still went out with you and that hurt me. That's why I left that party, because I couldn't bear to see you two together. I'm sorry, but you just don't understand." Kenneth face was expressionless. I told him all this and he doesn't even care. Savannah's eyes began to water. She stood up and hurried towards the door. Tears began to flow down her cheeks. Kenneth chased after her. Savannah's hand was on the door knob, but Kenneth took it off and smiled at her. He wiped away her tears.

" Don't cry." He said, and then he kissed her. Then Savannah knew the truth. He loved her and always had. She responded to his kiss tenderly and eargerly.
