The New Girl
Cheyenne Ligon
I'm the new girl here. It's amazing, I never thought I'd be moving from Virginia to California. Divorces totally suck! I don't even fit in here. You gotta be a blonde to survive........
Elizabeth Wakefield
I finally found him. I never thought I would. Todd and I didn't have love, we had obligation.. We'd been together so long, we might as well have been married. Conner is different. I think I know he's everything I ever wanted in a boyfriend. What could go wrong?
Mellisa Fox
I can't believe it!! First of all I lived!! Then when I get out of bed from being basically dormant, I see Jessica Slut Wakefield kissing Will. I thought she really cared about me. I know the real reason she came, to rub in my face how she has Will and I don't. Well, it's got to be something in this hospital that helps you die...
First block. History. Great! First thing in the morning I get to hear about George Washington. Room 508... Where was that!?! I saw a guy in the hallway.
" Hey, could you tell me where room 508 is?"
" Umm, sure. Is it Mr. Francis?" the guy said.
" Yes." I replied.
" That's where I'm headed."
" Cool. I'm Cheyenne. What's your name?"
" Conner. Conner McDermott. Where are you from?"
" Virginia. Do you like this school?"
" Yeah, I guess so. I came here after the quake tore-up my old school. Here we are!"
" Thanks for your help. Bye!" Cheyenne hurried to a seat near the front of the classroom.
" Can I see your schedule?" Mr. Francis asked.
" Sure." Cheyenne handed him her schedule.
" Welcome to my history class Cheyenne. If it's okay with you I would like you to sit with Tia and Conner today."
" Okay. Where are they?"
" Right over there." Mr. Francis pointed in their direction. Tia smiled and waved her over. Conner smiled too.
" Hi I'm Tia Ramirez. What's your name?"
" Cheyenne Ligon. Mr. Francis seems like a nice teacher." Conner looked at Cheyenne and smiled.
" That's until the tardy bell rings." Then the tardy bell rang.
" Okay class settle down. Today we are going to study the Civil War. If one of you can tell me six causes of the war, we won't go into a big review for a big test." The students groaned and took out their books. Cheyenne raised her hand.
" Miss Ligon, you can tell us six causes of the Civil War?"
" I would like to attempt." Conner and Tia exchanged glances. Cheyenne took a deep breath.
" The chief and immediate cause of the war was slavery."
" Correct."
" Another cause was name-calling."
" As petty as that is, yes."
" Societal differences."
" Yes."
" The South seceded from the Union."
" Correct."
" Expansion of slavery into the new territories."
" Right."
" Money problems, the Dred-Scott Case, political troubles, and fighting to save the Union."
" That's wonderful. Looks like I have obtained a bright student. She did not just give six, she gave nine reasons for the war. How many of you knew any of those reasons other than slavery?" No hands went up in the classroom. Conner stared at Cheyenne. Cheyenne felt his eyes, but never looked back at him.

" Mellisa, you are going to have to go to a psychiatrist and therapy. This is extremely embarrassing. Trying to kill yourself once, I can make up a simple excuse, but twice! You are embarrassing the family."
Mellisa stared straight at her mother. She knew it wouldn't do any good to talk back to her, but she did anyway.
" I hope you, dad, Will, and Jessica are all happy! You all were the reason I tried to kill myself. Why didn't you let me die?" A doctor walked in the room. " Let me die!!!"
" Mellisa calm down." her mother said.
" Mrs. Fox, I need to speak with Mellisa."
" Okay, she's talking a little crazy right now." Mrs. Fox stood up and left the room.
" Mellisa you really almost did yourself in this time. You will probably have to go to a children's home for awhile, several months of therapy, a long-time visit to a psychiatrist." Mellisa's eyes filled with tears. She had to get out of the hospital. She wasn't going to try to kill herself anymore, revenge on Will and Jessica would be much better.

" Hey Jess." Jeremy said. Even in work clothes Jessica was beautiful to him. She seemed distant today though. This was the fourth time he'd spoken to her and she still hadn't acknowledged his presence. Jeremy got impatient and grabbed her shoulders and gave Jessica a good shake.
" I can't see you anymore! Forgive me." Then her body went limp and she disappeared. Jeremy's eyes flew open and he turned off his screaming alarm. I hope that dream isn't a preview of anything to come. He thought to himself. He quickly showered and put on his HOJ uniform. He dialed Jessica's number.
" Good afternoon, Fowler residence. How may I direct your call?"
" I'd like to speak with Jessica. Jessica Wakefield."
" Hold please." Then another person picked up the line.
" Hello?" Jeremy smiled when he heard Jess's voice.
" Hey beautiful."
" Jeremy.." She didn't seem too happy to hear from him. Maybe I called at a bad time.
" Want me to call you later?"
" No, I'm fine. I was just a little startled. So what are you up to?"
" Nothing. I was wondering if you would give me a ride to work."
" Oh, sure. I'm headed that way anyway. I'm on the way to get you!"
" Okay. See you then, love." The line clicked when Jessica hung- up. What was wrong with Jessica?

Elizabeth tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and nervously chewed on her pencil. She had to find a good story to write about for the Oracle before Conner was going to pick her up.
" Excuse me. I'm Cheyenne, I'm supposed to see an Elizabeth Wakefield. I'm the new reporter."
" Oh that's me! Welcome aboard the Oracle staff." Elizabeth noted Cheyenne's beauty and grace.
" What should I do to begin?" Cheyenne asked.
" Umm, I'd like to see your writing style before I assign you to a specific part of the newsletter."
" Oh, no problem. I'm sure I can cook up something for you to read."
" Knock-knock." Elizabeth looked up and saw Conner standing in the doorway. She smiled and melted all at the same time. She knew she was a bright red. It was amazing how weak she could get at the sight of him. Then she noticed he was looking at Cheyenne.
" Hey Liz, Cheyenne. I didn't know you were into journalism."
" Well, I never wrote for my old school, but I wrote some for the USA Today."
" Really?" Liz said.
" Yes, my dad works for the USA Today. We used to see who could compose the best article. Well, that is before they got divorced." Cheyenne looked out one of the windows.
" Well, get your writing sample to me tomorrow or whenever. Conner are you ready?" Conner turned to face Liz.
" Yeah, I'm ready." They left the Oracle office and headed to Conner's car. He opened the door for Elizabeth and then got in on his side.
" Conner?"
" Yes?"
" Do you know Cheyenne?"
" Yes, she's in my history class."
" Is there something bothering you?"
" No. Why are you asking so many damn questions?" Elizabeth laid back in her seat and stared out the window. There is something about Cheyenne that I don't like.. Conner is mine! I love him. There is no way that new girl is going to get him. Not now, not ever!
Seems like Cheyenne is going to stir Sweet Valley a little bit..
And what about Mellisa?? Will she seek revenge?
