Conner slammed his car door shut and revved the engine. Elizabeth had said she was going to ride with him, but she wasn’t out yet and Conner was tired of waiting. He thrust the gear shift into reverse and began to back out of the space. He stopped when he saw Liz banging on the passenger side window. Conner unlocked the door.
“ Hey Conner, is it okay if Maria gets a ride with us since she’s coming over?” Conner groaned and nodded his head. Maria squeezed into the back seat.
“ Hey Liz, where’s Jess?” Maria asked.
“ Cheer practice.” Liz said quickly.
“ Oh yeah! Hey, I was thinking of like our whole group hanging out somewhere. Like out of town.”
“ What do you mean?”
“ Let’s go to L.A. and party and come back.” Conner waited for her to ask him to join in.
“ Ok,” Elizabeth said, “ Who will we invite?”
“ The entire gang! Everyone! Including Melissa and Cheyenne. Just anyone from SV that wants to come.”
“ That’s a great idea. We’ll plan it once we get at my, I mean Conner’s house.” The three rode the rest of the way in silence. Once at the McDermott residence Conner quickly exited the car and rushed inside the house. He picked up the phone to check for messages. There were several. He listened to each of them. One was for Liz inviting her to go to the movies, another was for Megan. He was about to shut off the phone when he heard the last one.

Conner scribbled down the number. D.U.I. was a serious charge. His mother’s license might be revoked forever! Conner was angry. What the hell was she doing in Las Vegas anyway? Conner threw the phone and it landed with a loud thud on the kitchen floor. He looked up and saw Elizabeth standing in the doorway. He put his face in his hands. He was angry and didn’t know what to do. Elizabeth cautiously neared him. She stroked his back and placed his head in her abdomen. She told him everything would be okay. Conner gave her a hug. Then he grabbed his keys and left. Where he was going... he didn’t know.
