Maria
*~*Monday*~*
Maria paid the cashier in the lunch line for her “lunch.” Today’s special was a “burrito” which could make you spit fire. She was worried about where she was going to sit. If she sat with Tia that meant she have to see Liz and Conner coo all over each other. Then she remembered what she wrote in her notebook. Maria confidently strode over to the almost filled table. She placed her tray at an empty seat.
“ Hey Everybody!”
“ Hi!” Everyone but Elizabeth and Conner said. I guess they still think I’m a psychopath.
“ Liz, can I talk to you for a sec?” Liz cast a nervous glance at Conner. Conner didn’t catch her glance because he was in conversation with a girl. Hmm...another sister is in SVH. Finally!!! Maria thought. Liz pushed her chair in and walked with Maria to a corner.
“ Hey, I’m sorry for being upset about you and Conner.”
“ No, I’m the one who should apologize.”
“ Let’s quit deciding who’s the guilty one and just be friends again!”
“ Deal!” Elizabeth said with a smile. When they got back to the table Liz moved her chair away from Conner, who was talking to Andy about some girl named Delilah, and sat beside Maria.
“ I have so much to tell you....” Elizabeth began. By the time Liz spilled the whole Cheyenne and Jessica thing lunch was over. Maria looked at Cheyenne and then noticed Melissa was at their table.
“ Look who’s here.” She whispered to Liz as she stood up to throw away her “lunch.”
“ Oh yeah, I know... She’s Cheyenne’s friend. Cheyenne would be cool if I didn’t feel so threatened by her.”
“ Make friends with her then.”
“ Hmm... Good idea Maria,” Elizabeth said as she turned to face Conner who had his arm draped around Cheyenne’s shoulders while she was talking to Melissa, “good idea.”
