Melissa chattered away excitedly to Cheyenne. She was so glad everyone's attention had turned to Ken instead of her return to school.
" Well, I mean no one should ever hit a girl." Cheyenne was saying. Both girls suddenly became quiet when they saw Elizabeth and Conner walking together and chatting. They were heading in the same direction as Melissa and Cheyenne...History...
" Hey Cheyenne!" Conner called to her and he quickly turned his head and focused intently on what Elizabeth was saying. Cheyenne didn't even think to return the hello. It was clear to her that he had used her. One thing he shouldn't ever do to ME is use me. Cheyenne thought angrily.
" What's wrong?" Melissa asked.
" Conner used me... I know it... He'll pay!" The girls hurried into history class. Cheyenne headed to her seat right in front of Conner. She noticed Elizabeth was on the other side of the room.
" Okay class settle down. Today you won't be having a quiz thanks to your brilliant classmate Cheyenne Ligon. So, sit back and relax. We're going to watch a video." The students cheered. Cheyenne stared straight ahead into the television screen. Then she pulled out her notebook and began writing.

I miss you so much!! I wish you were here to just be with me.
Mom is great but I want a father!! I want to help you write articles again.
When can I go back east and see you?
Cheyenne dropped her pen onto her notebook as a tear slid down her left cheek and landed on the page. Why couldn't they just work things out!!! WHY!?!?!?!?
" Hey, are you okay?" A voice said. She looked up and Conner was standing there holding the class pass to the restroom. Cheyenne quickly nodded her head. She knew that if she talked to anyone about it she would get more upset. Conner walked out the room. Cheyenne tried to concentrate on the video, but couldn't. Then suddenly she knew what she should do. She flipped to a fresh page in her notebook.
