Bad Girl

Jeremy Aames

Where is Jessica? Her family is here, my family is here.... Where is she?? What if she was in an accident? I have to find her.

Elizabeth Wakefield

Conner loves me!!!!! I can't think of words to describe that kiss we shared!!!

Jeremy glanced at his watch. Thirty minutes had passed and Jessica was nowhere to be found.

" Hey Mom, I'm going to go look for her."

" Okay Jeremy." Jeremy hopped into his vintage Mercedes and drove to the closest Mini-Mart. He jumped out the car and headed into the store.

" Excuse me sir, have you seen a blonde-haired girl who drove a jeep here?"

" Yeah, saw her a couple of minutes ago. What are you her brother?"

" No I'm her boyfriend."

" Oh, really? You might want to double-check that with her son because the way she was looking when she left here with this other guy, it seemed to me you had been replaced." Jeremy's heart shattered right then. He erased all thoughts of this being a joke or the clerk lying to him. It was clear and true. She was out of his life. The one person who helped him, the one he truly loved. Was gone. How had he let her slip away?

" Conner, maybe we should slow down." Elizabeth said. She didn't really want him to slow down. Kissing him had been the most fun she'd had since Cheyenne had come along. Elizabeth decided that Conner had made his choice loud and clear between her and Cheyenne. She knew that he had chosen her.

" Why do you want to slow down?"

" Because, I'm not ready for what will probably happen next." Then Conner jerked away from her and stood-up ready to leave.

" Ok then. We'll slow down." Conner headed out the door. This isn't what I meant!!!!!

" Wait!!"

" What?"

" I... think the rate we're going is fine. It's just that, I jumped to a conclusion with no grounds... I'm sorry Conner. I know that I shouldn't be even thinking stuff like that."

" All-right. So let's go."

" Where?"

" Downstairs. It's the great old western flick coming on I'd like to see." Elizabeth sighed and smiled at the same time. My little romantic Conner is back!

Devon lay back watching an old western flick on television. He dialed Elizabeth's number for the third time and listened to the same message for the third time. Finally realizing their number had been disconnected, Devon leafed through the phone book for a number for one of her friends. He immediately noted Maria's phone number. He punched in the numbers.

" Hello?" A sweet voice answered.

" Hi, is Maria there?"

" This is she. Who is this?"

" Devon. Devon Whitelaw."

" Oh."

" Do you have Elizabeth's number? When I tried to call they said the number was disconnected."

" Uh-huh, the number is disconnected."

" Okay.. I figured that much out myself. Could you give me her new phone number?"

" Sure." Devon copied down the number that Maria had given him.

" Thanks."

" Oh, by the way Devon, I'm not her friend anymore and um, one more thing."

" What?"

" She's staying with this guy named Conner. You might want to watch out for him."

" What? You mean she's living with some....Hello? Maria?" The line had clicked. She replaced me. And she's living with a guy?? What is wrong with her parents? Devon punched in the number Maria had given him.

" Hello?" A perky voice said.

" Hi, is Liz there?"

" Who is this?"

" Devon Whitelaw."

" Why are you calling here?"

" Who are you?"

" I'm Megan Sandborn. Now answer my question."

" I'm calling here to talk to Elizabeth Wakefield. I have the wrong number because I was told she lives with a guy."

" No she doesn't. She's right here. Her house got destroyed in the quake, so she's living with me, my mom, and my brother."

" Oh.... Well, can I speak to her? I'm an old friend of hers."

" Okay... I guess so...." Devon heard some talking and then some footsteps.

" Hello." Devon instantly recognized the voice.

" Liz! How have you been?"

" Fine Devon. You?"

" Good. I'm back in Sweet Valley for good though."

" Yeah, that's really great. Can I call you back?" Devon got a chill up his spine. The reaction she was displaying was not the one he wanted.

" Sure, I guess so... Did you even miss me?"

" Yes, of course I did. I just... have somebody now and I don't want to keep him waiting or give him any ideas." Devon quickly gave Elizabeth Nan's number to call him back. He couldn't wait to hang up the phone. He had never been so embarrassed and so humiliated.
